Richmond Arts & Leisure provides day-care support for adults who have completed courses at special college and need structured activities to maintain skills or develop need skills towards independence.

Activities are matched to service user needs and are both centre based and in the community.

Facilities at the centre include:-

Disabled bathroom

Disabled WC plus several other WC’s

Training kitchen

Arts room

Games room

Disco room

Hair and beauty

Sensory room

Computer room with touch screen VDU

Library

Quiet lounge

Garden

The service also accesses the following outside services such as :- Dudson Centre, Bridlegate Farm, Shelton Special Pool, Stoke College Gym, Festival Park, and many more.

The unit has its own manager and staff trained in the service and support of adults with learning disabilities.

The service is also available to non residential clients.

Appropriate behaviours -

Shops & Stores, Colleges, Banks & Post Offices,Transport, Community, Home.

  • Shopping & Food – Item Identification, Simple meal preparation i.e. Cold Drinks,
  • Toast, Cereals, Healthy eating.
  • Health & Hygiene - Washing self, Environment, Appropriate tools & materials, Self help
  • Road safety - Travel, Community transport.
  • Community awareness - Local facilities, Travel.

Note:  Clients are presented with the above opportunities several times before an I.L.P. is composed. Learning goals are then integrated in a structured plan and reviewed regularly.
